A mother fights – for herself and her little ones

She was found quietly,

on the side of the road, away from people – with two tiny puppies by her side.Her eyes were tired, her body exhausted, her gaze alert.But she stayed.A mother who never gave up.

Only at second glance did we realize how serious her condition was:Several tumors along her mammary line, one of them large and painful –the suspicion of a mammary carcinoma is looming.Her story is one shared by many street dogs:Never spayed, pregnant again and again, left alone – until the body gives out.

And yet, she was gentle.She let us help.She trusted.And in doing so, she gave us the greatest gift of all:The chance to give her and her puppies a new life.

Her two babies are now stable, cared for, and slowly beginning to explore life.But their mama still has a long road ahead.The surgery she urgently needs will cost around $1,000 –a big amount for a small rescue project like ours.

But what is the value of a life?What is the price of hope?
